Giclée reproductions of paintings and drawings and original prints of
graphics on this site will be made on request. Open editions using light-fast inks on archival paper are printed by the artist herself.
Framing is artfully chosen using archival materials. Frames are Environmentally Friendly Products ~ either
partially recycled wood composite with full grain laminate finish (I have been unable to determine the
exact make-up of the lamination, so I will phase these out), or of wood from sustainably managed forests. Choose Black, Reddish wood tone, Dark wood tone, or Light wood tone.
No rainforest or hardwood trees are sacrificed. You may request a used frame of my choosing (8x10 or 5x7);
if I have a suitable one, I will give you a $10.00 rebate. I use cotton rag or other PH-neutral boards and UV-filtering glass to protect your artwork for
generations. I am now using rice paper hinges with wheat paste, the method approved by conservators, to hinge artwork to larger backing board.
If framed without a mat, artwork is separated from the glass by PH-neutral spacers. I use UV-filtering "Conservation Clear" glass, but you may request
87% UV-filtering acrylic, which I recommend if you move frequently.
I frame my prints using UV-filtering Acrylic that blocks 87% of Ultraviolet light.
All mats are white unless otherwise specified. Color choice
usually requires a custom mat fee.
When choosing an unmatted framed picture, please remember that the frame crops 1/4" off each
side of the paper. If you are framing a borderless print, this will crop the image.
Frames are Environmentally Friendly Products ~ No rainforest or hardwood trees are sacrificed;
manufacture generates minimal waste.
In keeping with my concern for the environment, most of my frames are made from recycled wood with a
laminate finish. Since I discovered that teak is endangered, I will sell off those I have in stock
and buy no more. (My supplier thought they were buying farmed wood.) I advertise a few frames
from American tree farms, and in an emergency I do buy imported frames from local framers, but I am now making
sure they are not made of endangered wood. The exception is the small yard-sale frames; I don't always
know what they are made of, but they are being recycled. They are being donated by a very generous fellow-member of The Art Group in MT Jackson, VA.
The black Nordik "ebony" frames are not made of real ebony; some of them are teak, but they are used frames. The "rosewood" frames are not real rosewood.
The least expensive frames I offer in all sizes are made of recycled wood with a vinyl laminate finish.
Please be aware that there is a controversy raging over whether vinyl is good for the environment or terrible.
I have discovered a line of beautiful 1 1/2" wide frames made from 100% real fast-growing, sustainable bamboo.
