Although he is best known for his impressionist oils, Frieseke was also an accomplished watercolorist and draftsman. Many people actually prefer his watercolors. He worked in a variety of styles, from his primitive Florida landscapes, based on recollections of his childhood, to his impressionistic nudes and florals, to his almost abstract expressionist Swiss landscapes.
