Archival Preservation, Restoration, Storage and Display

Treasured artwork, books, documents, and photographs need and deserve archival treatment. For display and storage supplies, Rising Dove Fine Arts and Services recommends:

Light Impressions
    - The Leading Resource for Archival Supplies.

However, I am no longer affiliated with Light Impressions, and they are not answering my emails. If you can, please use Archival Methods instead.

A limited selection of products is displayed on their web site. Order a Free Catalogue; you can then order any item on line, using the Product I.D.# from the catalog. I have listed a selection of basic supplies to help you get started.

Archival Storage

Rare-Book Boxes: create your own boxes for rare books and documents with these 20 pt. acid- and lignin-free (important for certain types of photographs) TrueCore Boxboard sheets. Two sheets are needed per box. One sheet must be the same width as the book, and its length 3x the height of the book plus twice its thickness; the other must be the same height as the book, and its width 3x the width of the book plus twice its thickness. For example, "The Sacred Harp" (1991 edition) is 9" x 7" by 1". You need one sheet 29" x 7", the other sheet 23" by 9". The closest size is 9" x 30". One package (6) of 9 x 30 sheets will make enough boxes for three books, and costs less than two pre-fabricated boxes. Use Double-Coated Film Tape #07148 to hold board together. Comes with Hook and Loop Fasteners to provide a resealable closure. Sizes can be combined for quantity discounts.
